I discovered a new clinic recently - Monette Ansley by Dr Adam in Tropicana Avenue. Dr Adam is one of the leading injectors of Sculptra - a form of filler that produces natural anti-aging results (no pillowface, yay!).
I booked in an appointment last week and set off on my little Sculptra journey.
Safety note: Dr Adam and Monette Ansley clinic are currently practising the standard hygiene procedures as mandated by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Masks, hand sanitisers, disposable bed covers, and a sign in QR code and sheet were all provided and utilised.
Also worth mentioning, the clinic is absolutely gorgeous! It has high ceilings, a super comfy waiting area, and even the rooms are beautifully designed and decorated. Kudos to the clinic for creating such a welcoming, comfortable environment.
The process of treatment for Sculptra is pretty much what you would expect with other fillers - first you start off with a simple consultation with the doctor. I have to say Dr Adam's approach really soothed me. He was very careful to take into account the volume my face already had, and advised me against injecting filler in certain areas because they were already quite pronounced. It's important to go to a doctor who takes all this into account, because if not, they could go too far and inject too much filler, creating unnecessary fullness where you don't need it.

Then it's time to cleanse the skin, so that they can prep it with numbing cream to reduce any pain you might feel with the injections.

Be prepared to wait a while for the numbing cream to take effect - I waited just under an hour before finally moving on to the injections.

When it finally came time for the treatment, my face was nice and numb, and Dr Adam started mapping out the areas where he would place the injections.
I wanted to give you guys a little idea of what the process looks like, so here's a little clip from the Live function on my phone.
Honestly, the pain is not that bad, I would say to me it was like a 4/10? It's only a little worse because you're hyper aware there's a needle in your face. But if you don't focus on it, it's not too bad.
And that was it! The entire process took about 2 hours, then I was given 3 packets of pills - 1 anti-inflammatory for after the procedure, anti-swelling to take for 1-2 days after, and 1 painkiller only if needed (my face burned a little for a few hours after the procedure but I didn't feel the need for the painkillers, so I didn't take them).
There's no downtime for this procedure. Sure, your face is a little bit red and swollen right after, but it doesn't really look abnormal and you can totally get away with going out in public and no one will notice. This is a little clip of my face immediately after the procedure when we went to get lunch.
Disclaimer: the giant red dots under my chin are actually pimples, NOT the injection site. I was suffering from a bad breakout (you can find out more about what happened and what I'm doing to fix it here) and Dr Adam was kind enough to also give me some anti-inflammatory injections so the angry cysts subsided by the next morning, yay!
Post treatment procedure was also really simple - no makeup or harsh skincare for the next 24 hours, no exercise for the next couple of days (yay, haha), and 5x simple massages per day for the next 5 days. I am now exactly 5 days post-procedure and feeling great! The results are meant to show over the course of a few weeks (sometimes more injections are recommended) and the results can last up to 2 years. So I don't have any results to show right now, but I will continue documenting my journey to show you what changes happen!
