Nude Lip Series: Clinique Colour Surge Lipstick in Natural Gloss

Thursday, June 23, 2011

I would like to introduce to you one of my first ever lipsticks! The Clinique Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in 444 Natural Gloss (mouthful, I know).

What Clinique say:
The creamiest, richest, smoothest lip colour you can imagine. Our revolutionary gel formula delivers the shine of a gloss, the comfort of a lipstick. Drenches lips in moist, lush colour that glides on buttery-soft, feels luxuriously smooth.
I was a lipgloss person until recently, and this lipstick kind of reflects that. I would never, ever have bought a lipstick, but I was at the Clinique counter getting a new bottle of my Clinique toner, and I noticed that my favourite sales assistant was wearing the most gorgeous colour on her lips. I immediately asked for whatever gloss she was wearing on her lips, and was introduced instead to this lipstick.

This is a sheer, frosty, shimmery lipstick. It is also my favourite ever sheer lipstick, probably because it mimics a lipgloss. I take this with me everywhere! It is easy to apply because it blends with and enhances whatever lip colour I had on before, and slides like a dream. This thing gives me the ultimate lip-slide satisfaction!

This is probably the most sheer lipstick out of my entire nude lipstick collection. I'm not a big fan of sheer lipsticks, but this performs more like a lipgloss for me, so it is excused. There is just something about the way it moisturizes and glosses my lips - I can't get enough!

It only provides a very delicate pink sheen to the lips, hardly noticeable. The gloss factor, however, is stellar.

If you're looking for a frosty topping to, say, a lipstick or a lip stain, this is definitely the product for you. Same goes to anyone who has already pigmented lips who want to add a little pizzaz and wants a lovely high-moisture, glossy lipstick.

Note: I whitened my lips with a thin layer of foundation in the picture and swatch above

I'm not sure if this shade is still available, but the Colour Surge lipsticks are still available, retailing at AUD 36. Check out the various available shades here.
