OPI Sparkle-icious Swatches

I loved Alice in Wonderland. I loved it back when I was a kid, and I still love the much darker Tim Burton version.

Naturally, I wanted to haul just about any Alice in Wonderland cosmetic item that came to my attention. One of these items was the OPI Alice in Wonderland collection nail polish in 'Mad as a Hatter'.

My beauty obsession came a little late, so I was way behind the game looking for this. I found them on eBay, retailing for about 30USD (including shipping). So expensive. But no matter, I am very much familiar with the wonder that is Google.

So I Googled myself a dupe, and lo-and-behold, another OPI polish pops up! This is the OPI Burlesque Collection nail polish in Sparkle-icious.

Be warned! This is an extremely high-glitter polish. But for glitter-addicts like me, it's pure heaven in a bottle. It is a multi-coloured glitter with mostly gold and purple reflects, and a little bit of blue thrown in.
With all the glitter in this thing, it's sure to come out a little scratchy on the top once it dries, but that is easily fixed by painting on a top coat.

The great thing about this nail polish is that you can afford to make mistakes, and chips are very unnoticeable.

A lot of people have been complaining about the fact that you have to put on so many layers before it actually looks like it's supposed to, but I kind of like it like that. That way, I can layer on the nail polish according to my particular preference at the time (or depending on how much I want to stand out). It's beautifully sheer (but still very glittery) even with just one coat, though it doesn't seem like it in the swatches:

One coat

Two coats

Three coats

All the pictures above were taken without flash, so you can imagine how much more glittery it would be under almost any kind of lighting!

There's the MBBE gathering tonight, and I have 3 coats on, so I'm hoping the nails aren't too loud!
