FOTD: Lee Hyori Inspired

Sunday, January 23, 2011

I'm what Chinese people would call a "xiang jiao" - otherwise known as banana. Why? Because I'm yellow on the outside but white on the inside.

I hardly speak Mandarin, I am not well versed in Eastern culture and traditions (though I do participate and try to understand and remember what I can), and I know nothing about the Eastern entertainment scene.

Lee Hyori is this gorgeous Korean popstar, but I have never heard any of her songs. I came across her pictures in a Malaysian magazine one day, and I've been stalking her ever since. I have a few pictures of her in my 'makeup inspiration folder', and I thought I'd try them out today.

I wanted a sort of mixture of these two looks, so that it would be more wearable. So this is what I came up with:

I was playing around with Photoshop (again!), because I noticed that the lighter the eye colour is, the more prominent the eye makeup seems to look, no matter how lightly the eyeshadow is applied.
I've never actually worn contact lenses. My one coloured-lens experience was when I snuck into my Mom's bathroom and tried to put on her colour-contacts once when I was 15, but I only ended up making a mess and ruining my Mom's lenses. So no coloured-contacts for me.

I tried to use the Sleek Original palette as much as possible, to make it easier to achieve this look if anyone wanted to.
So here's a list of what I used:

Bare Minerals Foundation in Light
Sleek Original Palette
Bare Minerals All Over Face Color in Bare Radiance
NYX Round Lipstick in Circe
Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex in BE210

And here are the colours I used from the Sleek palette (I used the pink as a highlight for my brow and cheekbones)

I'll be trying this look again, but with a darker eyeliner, so a tutorial will be coming soon!
